Strung out junkie Nikita (Anne Parillaud) gets involved in a shoot out with police and is believed dead. Secretly however, she has been detained by the government to serve a new purpose: An assassin for the French government. Her devotion to her mission is not only tested by her own past but by the trust of her boyfriend (Jean Hugues Anglade), a checkout clerk at the supermarket who has no idea of Nikita’s true identity.
Luc Besson’s iconic action thriller is a landmark of the genre and was the calling card for Besson to move on to Hollywood. With an appearance by the irreplaceable Jeanne Moreau as Nikita’s “tutor”, La Femme Nikita is a wild ride only the French could make. Winner of the 1991 Cesar award for Best Actress.

Le thriller d’action emblématique de Luc Besson est un repère du genre et a été la carte de visite pour Besson pour se déplacer à Hollywood. Avec l’irremplaçable Jeanne Moreau en tant que «tutrice» de Nikita, La Femme Nikita est une aventure sauvage que seuls les Français peuvent faire. Lauréat du prix César de la meilleure actrice en 1991.
