About the Book:
"Crossing the Blue Ridge: A Tale of King's Mountain" by L.E. Denton is a historical fiction novel set during the American Revolutionary War. The story follows Caleb Anders, who, in 1774, leaves his oppressive family in search of adventure beyond the Blue Ridge Mountains. Along the way, he befriends Nate Daniels, and together they face the challenges of frontier life, including conflicts with Cherokee Indians. As tensions with British forces escalate, they must decide whether to defend their Virginia homeland or join General George Washington's fight for independence. The novel culminates in the pivotal Battle of King's Mountain, highlighting the contributions of often-overlooked American patriots.
About the Author:
A lover of all things history related, as well as a penchant for genealogy thrown in, Laura Denton particularly enjoys studying the unconventional military history of America. Her latest book, "Crossing the Blue Ridge: A Tale of King's Mountain" has allowed her to not only fully study one of the most lopsided American military victories in our history, but also indulge in a little family history as well. She is distantly related to Isaac Shelby, one of the leaders of the overmountain men who whipped the Loyalist army on King's Mountain. She graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a degree in Secondary Education, History and Political Science. She enjoys reading, crafting and being a wife, mother and grandmother.
