This year’s Kū Mai Ka Hula competition features award-winning hālau from Hawai‘i, Japan, and the continental U.S., judged by renowned kumu hula including Taupori Tangaro, Ulalia Woodside Lee, Maka Herrod, and Cody Pueo Pata.
On Friday, the pre-show begins at 4:30 PM with a performance by the Kamehameha Schools Maui Hawaiian Ensemble in the Yokouchi Pavilion, followed by the solo competition at 6:00 PM in the Castle Theater. On Saturday, the pre-show starts at 11:30 AM, with the competition beginning at 1:00 PM, and each day will conclude with an awards ceremony.
The Maui Arts & Cultural Center will be collecting non-perishable donations for the Maui Food Bank during this event. Patrons are encouraged to bring items to support those affected by the wildfires, with donation bins located near the MACC’s main entry gates.
