Kōauau or Small Ipu Workshop

Kūkū Uku and Whiritahi have teamed up to bring you an uku (clay) workshop making kōauau (traditional Māori flute) or a small ipu (vessel).
Held at Te Pae as part of the Ōtautahi Made Spring Market, each session runs for 1 hour and works with real uku (clay), with just 6 people per workshop so everyone gets proper hands on time.
These workshops are designed to be beginner friendly and are suitable for 7+ ages.
You will learn tikanga around uku (clay) and basic skills with working with uku (clay).
It is not always necessary to have your ipu (vessel) fired, but if you require firing this comes at an extra $5. You can pay on the day if you require this.
