We would love you to come along and watch as Kuan's two Gridiron American Football Clubs take eachother on in the battle for the KUAN BROWN MEMORIAL SHIELD, on Saturday 2nd November at 11.30am at the Vikings Rugby Club in Wollongong. Each time the Wollongong Mustangs and UTS Gators Colts teams play against eachother, they play for a shield that is presented to the winning team to acknowledge Kuan's passion, dedication, love (and obsession) of the game and his teammates. This will be the 3rd season it's held.
Kuan trained with the Wollongong Mustangs as a 15 year old when he was still too young to play, in 2019. The following year, in 2020 his dreams came true when he took to the field as the Quartback for the Colts team (age 16-19).
In 2021, his beloved Mustangs were unable to field a Colts team so he joined the UTS Gators who became his second family! Unfortunately, Covid saw the season cancelled. In the lead up to the start of the 2022 season, Kuan attended every pre-season training season which involved driving up to Sydney from Kiama twice a week! Sadly, he passed away just 2 weeks before what would have been his 1st game for the Gators. He had been so excited!
When Kuan found Gridiron, we knew he'd found his tribe.
During this memorial match, neither of the teams will wear the No.1 Jersery, which was Kuan's number. Duncan, Kaira and I have that honour for the day...
Please also join us on the side of the field after the game for a drink to toast Kuan.
