He resides now in Syracuse where he has lived for 35 years and performs solo and with his significant other Kathy Dillon
Melissa Grace brings a cross section of American life to her music. With a blend of Country, Folk, Rock, and Blues music, she touches most bases with an empathetic style. Her throaty vocals (as she says, "We're only Altos till we sing lead!"), and hybrid style of guitar playing she shares a friendly audible smile for the listener. While performing familiar cover songs, her originals come out of the same source whether singing of traditional American values, as in Spirit of America, songs of self-esteem, such as I'm Not Afraid, or simple reflection such as Heart of A Champion, Melissa's music welcomes the listener and offers a friendly space.
While primarily performing in local and regional farmers markets, senior centers, cafes, and restaurants, she has also opened for Melanie Safka and shared a State Fair venue with Jamie Anderson. Humor in her own life has provided a natural warmth with other performers.
Mellissa keeps her ego in check with a humble approach to performing. Rather than claiming to be something "special," she knows she is only as good as how the audience feels about her music. She has brought that simple approach to Steeple Coffeehouse in the past, and has been asked back, based on performance, rather than hype. She is grateful for the support and values the folks who come out to listen.
Her family friendly music will get you tapping your foot, put a smile on your face, or even get you singing along. She's pleased to see you and hope you will be pleased, as well!
