Dance-A-Story for All Ages,” is designed to captivate audiences of all ages. Immerse yourself in a literacy journey through stories, songs, and games that engage your senses with language, rhythms, and body movements.

Haitian storytelling, much like dance, has deep roots in African traditions—the original interactive art form! Lucrèce invites everyone to participate with hand clapping, drumming, and dance, making each presentation a rich sensory experience.

About the Performer:

Lucrèce Louisdhon-Louinis is a renowned storyteller, dancer, and librarian, as well as the Director of the Louinès Louinis Haitian Dance Theater and Dance-A-Story, Inc. Her performances are known for their vivacious and enchanting style, blending ethnic dance, stories, and rhythm. Her storytelling repertoire includes Haitian, Caribbean, and African folklore and songs.

"Lucrèce’s storytelling is spellbinding,” said one parent at a recent show. Both adults and children are drawn into her performances through her infectious enthusiasm for group participation.

Lucrèce has performed at prestigious venues across the United States, including the Wertheim Performing Arts Center, North Miami Beach Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater, Little Haiti Cultural Center, American Museum of Natural History, New York Public Library, Queens Public Library, and the Miami-Dade Public Library. Internationally, she has graced events such as the Toronto Storytelling Festival in Canada, Dublin City Library Multicultural Day in Ireland, Library Board of Accra Cultural Exchange in Ghana, and the Bibliothèque Méjanes’s Bookfest in Aix En Provence, France.

LOCATION | This activity takes place exclusively at Vizcaya Village, the estate’s historic farm village, and does not include access to the east side of the property where the Main House and gardens are located.

VIZCAYA FAMILY PROGRAMS | This series is designed to create opportunities for intergenerational interactions among families.

To promote inclusion for all, Vizcaya ensures that all community programs, after-hour and weekend events for locals, feature activities that are physically accessible to all visitors. While not all areas of the estate are wheelchair accessible, community programs are purposefully located in areas without stairs or that can be accessed via a ramp.
