Bring the kids to the Krewe du Kidz Masquerade in Downtown OWA on February 22nd for an afternoon of Mardi Gras fun! Perfect for kids of all ages, this free event features crafts, games, and a shoebox float competition. It all leads up to the crowning of the Krewe du Kidz King and Queen!
Come in your finest Mardi Gras regalia to be in the running for Krewe du Kidz King or Queen. With plenty of activities to enjoy, it’s a great way for kids and families to celebrate the Mardi Gras season together!

Schedule of Events
- 12:00 – 3:30 pm:
o Glitter Tattoos & Face Painting at the Native Treasures Alcove
o Caricature Artist at the Downtown fountain
o Balloon Artist at the Gussies Flowerbed
- 12:00 - 4:00 pm: Snap a picture with one of the Mardi Gras stilt walkers roaming Downtown OWA
- 12:00 – 4:30 pm: Shoebox Float Decorating Competition – Decorate your own shoebox float at home using your creativity and imagination, then bring it to Krewe du Kidz for a chance to win a prize! Prizes will be awarded at 4:30pm. Must be present to win. Decorating supplies will be available in limited quantities while supplies last.
- 12:00 – 5:00 pm:
o DJ Bubble Party at the Splashpad
o Moon Pie Bingo at the Native Treasures Alcove
o DIY Feather Masks at the Downtown fountain
o DIY Bead Necklaces at the Gussies flowerbed
- 4:45 pm: Crowning of Krewe du Kidz King & Queen. Come to Krewe du Kidz dressed in your finest Mardi Gras regalia to be in the running for Krewe du Kidz King or Queen! Must be present to win. King and Queen are invited to ride on OWA’s float at the Mardi Gras Parade & Party on March 2nd.
