KRATOM & ADOLESCENTS: panel discussion - the warning signs, its impact on adolescent health, and practical ways to help keep our youth safe
About this Event

Councilwoman Theresa Mari presents Kratom & Adolescents: Emerging Drug Trends, an educational community forum focused on raising awareness about kratom and its potential impact on young people.

The event will bring together local health and substance-use experts for an evidence-based discussion about what kratom is, warning signs parents and caregivers should recognize, emerging trends, adolescent health concerns, and practical steps families can take to help keep youth safe.

The program will feature a panel discussion followed by a community Q&A, giving parents, caregivers, educators, and community members an opportunity to hear directly from professionals and ask questions.

Featured Speakers

The discussion will be hosted by Councilwoman Theresa Mari and moderated by Linda Oristano, Executive Director of AWARE. Panelists include:

  • Barry Zaks – Director, Huntington Drug & Alcohol Counseling Center
  • Andrew Kolodny, MD – Medical Director, Opioid Policy Research Collaborative
  • Jana Wu – Clinical Expert, Mountainside
