This isn’t a story about saving girls. It’s about what happens when girls become the revolution.

KRANTI: REVOLUTION brings the story of Kranti from Mumbai to Milwaukee for one night at Mitchell Street Arts on MKE Gallery Night.

Born in the heart of Mumbai’s red-light district, Kranti empowers the daughters of sex workers to be agents of social change and happiness. On October 16, meet the women behind that revolution.

See the work of photographer and Kranti alum Ashwini Mane, who returned to the brothels where she grew up, this time with a camera. Her photographs look beyond the red-light district we think we know, documenting sex workers after hours as mothers, daughters, sisters, and members of a community.

Then hear directly from Kranti founder Robin Chaurasiya about the movement these young women have built, the systems they are pushing against, and what it means to create change from within.

The evening also marks the launch of Spaces that Listen, a new zine from Defining Humanity documenting the process of designing Kranti’s future home in India. Zines will be available by donation, with proceeds supporting Kranti House and Mitchell Street Arts.
