Kosmic is a cover team started in 2018 for dancers age 12-18. They cover a variety of K-pop, J-pop, and many more Asian pop groups, spreading their love & enthusiasm for performing. You, too, could be a part of this amazing performance group and perform all over San Antonio 4-6x/yr+! We also are big on helping our community through our outreach "Dance to Heal" program: Project SMASH.

About the audition
Ages: 12-18
Location: SMASH Studio 6883 Bandera Rd.
Prepare a 20sec solo (any age-appropriate style), a short speech ready as to why you want to be part of the team & what your strengths are.
Pre-requisites: Complete minimum 6 months at our Saturdays K-Pop Dance class *OR* Minimum 1 year of dance experience any style, anywhere
~Free to audition, MUST RSVP by purchasing a FREE ticket~ Please see below for tuition details if you make the team.
Please come dressed ready to dance: in comfortable dance/athletic clothing such as joggers or leggings, sneakers, and a tshirt. During the audition, you will learn a small choreography combination with the other auditionees as a group. Please also come prepared with a 20sec max solo of choreo or freestyle to a song of your choice - any style you are most confident in! Please note that song must be age-appropriate and any solos exceeding 20sec will be ended at 20sec - not adhering to these rules may disqualify your audition.
The judges (your potential future instructors) will be looking at a few key elements during your solo audition including your TIMING, FACIAL EXPRESSIONS, KNOWLEDGE of CHOREO, and ENERGY.
If you are called back with an invitation to join the team, please note that this is a rest of year (12-month) commitment for January-Dec 2026 (or if auditioning mid-year, it is rest of year commitment). Class is every Saturday 11:50am-1:50pm, tuition is $89/mo on autopay, plus a one-time class uniform fee of $50 (1 Kosmic shirt & 1 SMASH shirt used for weekly practice). Performances the team participates in throughout the year may require specific outfits (we try to keep these as affordable and as reusable as possible!).
If you do not make the team, we have other classes at SMASH you can register for that will hep you improve your technique so you can audition again in the summer of 2026! Saturday Kpop Dance at 1:10pm or any of our other great kids technique classes.

What will class be like?
You have 2 instructors on any given day that will help guide you and provide feedback so you can become the best dancer you can be. Class structure goes like this: 80% choreography, 10% Strength Training & stretching, & the remaining 10% is having FUN! We will work hard in class, and as a team member you'll be expected to practice every day we don't meet - keep in mind we only meet once a week!
