This clinic is designed for riders who want to develop real, usable cow skills that translate directly to everyday ranch work. The focus is on slow, methodical stockmanship—prioritizing accuracy, feel, timing, and correct positioning over speed or pressure.Riders will learn how to read cattle, understand movement and balance, and set up high-percentage shots rather than chasing or reacting. We emphasize thoughtful cattle handling, helping both horse and rider learn to think through the job, stay organized, and work efficiently.
Throughout the clinic, participants will work on:
• Reading and influencing cattle movement
• Tracking and controlling a cow with purpose
• Pulling cattle quietly and correctly from the herd
• Setting up accurate, high-percentage shots
• Ranch-style roping fundamentals focused on positioning and timing
The clinic will conclude with team-based sorting exercises, allowing riders to apply the day’s skills in a practical, low-pressure setting that reinforces communication, teamwork, and stockmanship principles.
This clinic is ideal for riders looking to build confidence and competence in cattle work, develop a thinking cow horse, and gain skills that are useful, repeatable, and applicable beyond the arena. Great for all ages and riding disciplines.
This is our winter series, similar to our Friday Nights Under the Lights Cattle Clinic Series. Our winter series is held on Saturdays in the colder months, lunch is catered by El Rey Mexican and is a total of 3 hours instead of 2.
Cost is $120 per person. $60 non-refundable deposit due to sign up and secure your spot. Remainder due day of. Limited to 6 riders. Rain dat will be Jan 24.
