Welcome to the Korean Americans in the Arts: Q&A Panel and Networking Event! Join us at the Korean American Association of Greater New York headquarters for an evening of insightful discussions and valuable connections. Our panel of creative professionals will share their experiences and expertise [in the industry] offering valuable insights for aspiring professionals in the entertainment industry. Jason Hyun Kim
Jason Hyun Kim is a commercial editor at Omnicom Studios and film director/producer at House Productions (houseprds.com). He has written and directed award winning short films, documentaries, and promotional content for the National Park Services, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Wilson Sporting Goods, Hilton Hotel Group and other clients. A self-taught filmmaker with a degree in Media and Cinema Studies from University of Illinois, his approach to creativity is rooted in open-minded exploration and collaboration.
Lisa Gold
Lisa 종애 Gold is the Executive Director of the Asian American Arts Alliance (A4). She has past experience at the Hirshhorn Museum, Washington Project for the Arts; Drawing Center and the Socrates Sculpture Park. She has served on the Board of Directors, the advisory committee for the Diversity Mentorship program and as chair of the New Leadership Alliance of ArtTable, the board of advisors for Wayfarers, the advisory committee of HueArts NYC, co-facilitator of the Culture@3 call; convener of the NYC AAPI Arts Leaders group and more. She was recognized by Women’s History Month (2024) for her contributions to the arts and received the “Most Inspiring AAPI Community Leader” award from the Asia Society. She also serves as a career mentor with the NY Foundation for the Arts, Asian American Collective and The Lunar Collective. Lisa is an advocate for creative producers and has developed inclusive programming and outreach initiatives throughout her career.
Gene Kim
Gene Kim is a storyboard artist and animator who has storyboarded on Netflix, Amazon Studios and other major streaming platforms in addition to his own work. Before switching to storyboards, Gene was a CG artist at Disney's Blue Sky Studios and an undergrad animation generalist program intern at Pixar Animation Studios. His own original animated work One Last Monster has been profiled by Forbes, The Korea Times, Toon Boom Animation and other major news outlets. Moderator:
Lil Rhee is a theater & film producer and actor. She has a few film projects in development. She is a member of New York Women in Film & TV (NYWIFT), The Gotham, PANO, Women In Media, DCTV, Film Independent, Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU), SAG-AFTRA and more.
