Koningsdag 2026 at The Shipyards – A Fresh Outdoor CelebrationThis year, we’re celebrating Koningsdag a little differently, and we think you’re going to love it.
Join us on April 25th at The Shipyards in North Vancouver for a vibrant, fully outdoor Koningsdag experience. Instead of our traditional separate day program outside and evening program inside the Pipe Shop, we’re bringing the energy outside from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, creating a lively festival atmosphere in the covered commons area and surrounding area.
The covered commons area will host a variety of activities and vendors, making it the perfect place to gather, explore, and celebrate Dutch culture. Picture yourself strolling through stalls, enjoying great food, and relaxing by the fire tables with friends and family.
Expect a curated mix of vendors offering items close to the Dutch heart, including oliebollen, a dedicated Holland Shopping Stand, and Bali Bites featuring Indonesian flavours we all know and love. You’ll also find the Dutch Network information booth, along with community presence from De Esdoorn.
Come hungry, there will be multiple food trucks serving a variety of delicious options throughout the day. From 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, our bar will be open, offering beer and wine. The entire event area will be licensed, so you can grab a drink and settle in comfortably around the square.
And for a bit of fun and nostalgia, the party includes face painting for kids (and the young at heart), cotton candy, and the traditional sjoelbakken.
We’ve lined up a full afternoon of entertainment to keep the celebration going:
1:00 PM – A live performance by Dutch magician 'Norden the Magician' to kick things off
2:30 PM – Live music by the band ‘Old Growth’
5:00 PM – 8:00 PM – Our very own Dutch DJ René Sloos takes over with an energetic set
René is well known in our community for his past performances, including opening for Ben Liebrand, and he’ll be closing out the day in style.

Whether you’re Dutch, have Dutch roots, or simply love a great community celebration, this is your invitation to come together, wear orange, and enjoy a relaxed, festive Koningsdag with us.
