Are you ready for an exciting adventure on the harbour?Join Black Cat Cruises on our Know Your Place – Lyttelton Harbour Discovery Cruise for a 1-hour trip around the stunning Lyttelton Harbour. We’re lucky to have scientist Brent Barrett on board to talk to us, who knows all about the amazing flora and fauna that call this place home. He’s done some really cool research on Quail Island/Ōtamahua and helps protect penguins and lizards right at Battery Point.
Hop aboard our boat and explore the harbour that was formed 11 million years ago when a giant volcano erupted. You’ll learn about its fascinating history, from its Antarctic connections to the stories of the Māori people and the first settlers who arrived here. We’ll also cruise past the islands of Ripapa and Quail Island!
You’ll also have the chance to witness the stunning coastal marine birdlife and, if we are super lucky, spot the world’s rarest and smallest dolphins – the Hector’s dolphin, which often frequents the harbour.
