Know Your Employment Rights — Navigating Workplace Concerns and Support Options

Workshop 2 of WorkReady Alberta: Building Confidence, Careers & Workplace Inclusion

When something doesn't feel right at work… do you know what to do?

Have you ever wondered:

  • Was that discrimination, or just a misunderstanding?
  • Am I being too sensitive?
  • Should I talk to my manager or HR?
  • How do I document what happened?
  • What are my rights in Alberta?
  • Where can I go for help?

If you've asked yourself any of these questions, this workshop is for you.

Join us for Workshop 2 of the WorkReady Alberta series — an interactive and practical session designed to help participants understand their employment rights and respond confidently to workplace racism, exclusion, bullying, harassment, and discrimination.

Rather than focusing only on legislation, this workshop provides practical guidance to help you assess workplace situations, recognize patterns, understand your rights, document incidents effectively, and explore appropriate next steps and available support resources.

What You'll Learn
✔ Understand your employment rights and protections under Alberta and Canadian legislation
✔ Learn the difference between workplace conflict, bullying, harassment, and discrimination
✔ Recognize when workplace behaviours may require further action
✔ Learn practical strategies for documenting workplace incidents
✔ Understand complaint processes and support resources available in Alberta
✔ Build confidence in deciding when, how, and where to seek support

Who Should Attend?
This workshop is open to everyone who wants to better understand workplace rights, build confidence in responding to workplace concerns, and contribute to more respectful and inclusive workplaces — including newcomers to Canada, internationally trained professionals, racialized Albertans, Indigenous job seekers, entrepreneurs, and anyone navigating their career in Alberta.
