“Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…”Especially the family knitter, who is sleeping peacefully knowing their work is complete and hanging on the mantle “with care!”
In this class, learn to knit a gift that keeps on giving and will become a cherished family heirloom. A knitted Christmas stocking can be personalized to each family and recipient, from colors to motifs, names to size.
Over the course of four class periods, participants will design their stocking using a pattern template, colorwork motifs, and personalization options. Then the work begins, with the instructor offering learning, support, and encouragement to each individual knitter from cuff to toe. Finally, the stockings will be completed in time for the holiday season and with the confidence and plans to make stockings for the entire family.
Don’t celebrate Christmas? No problem! This secular class is at its core a colorwork knitting class, using the Christmas stocking as the “palette” for universal 2-color knitting techniques like stranded knitting, colorwork in the round, personalization, large motifs, and infinite patterns. If you don’t use the stocking yourself, you can make it for a friend or loved one who will cherish your work and art.
