Kitsap OMS - Anti-Resorptive Therapy and MRONJ
About this Event
This talk will cover the dental management of patients undergoing anti-resorptive therapy (ART), commonly used to treat conditions such as osteoporosis, bone metastases, and multiple myeloma. While effective, ART—particularly nitrogen-containing bisphosphonates and denosumab—can lead to Medic*tion-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ), a serious complication often presenting as painful, exposed jawbone. ART may also affect outcomes of dental treatments, including implants. Given its potential to interfere with both dental and medical care, it's critical for oral health professionals to understand MRONJ.
