Did you know you already have your very own herbal apothecary in your home? Let Meaghan Renshaw from The Raven Shire demystify the term “apothecary” for you and teach you all about the healing plants you have stocked in your kitchen. From dill to sage, we will go on an herbal journey, deep diving through the history of common kitchen herbs and spices, their uses throughout the ages and how you can use them today for yourself and your family. Herbal tasting samples and recipes included!

Instead of a scholarship program, I am offering Sliding Scale tuition rates for this class series. I have been exploring different ways to make my offerings more accessible, while still working for a sustainable income stream for my family. If you are interested in learning more about Sliding Scale as a tool for Economic Justice, please check out this article by Alexis J. Cunningfolk. The descriptions of the different tiers are pulled from her article.
Full Price Tuition represents the true value for the workshop series. "If you have access to financial security, own property or have personal savings, you would not traditionally qualify for sliding scale services."
Tier 1 is referred to as The Middle Costs and "reflects the practitioner's acknowledgement that paying the full cost would prevent some folks from being able to attend, but who do not honestly find themselves reflected in either descriptions for the highest cost or the lowest."
Tier 2 - is referred to as the Bottom Cost and "represents an honest acknowledgment by the teacher and practitioner that there are folks whose economic circumstances would prevent them from being a part of classes if there was not a deliberate opportunity made for them to access services at a cost that is reflective of their economic realities."
When registering for the series and selecting which tier is best for you, please keep in mind that if you select a lower tier and you can afford a higher tier, you are limiting access to the workshop series for people who truly need financial flexibility. Two of the most important goals for me as an herbalist are connecting people to the plants and building community. By fairly contributing what you can in tuition, you are helping me reach these goals for our community.

About Meaghan:
Meaghan Renshaw started studying herbalism officially in 2023 with Seagate School. She is currently a student at Chestnut School for Herbal Medicine, Joan Morais Cosmetic School (with a focus in Natural Skincare) and the Community Herbalism Program with The Herbalist’s Path. Her personal journey has led her to focus on sharing knowledge and crafting products that are completely alcohol-free through her personal brand, The Raven Shire, and looks forward to the day she can begin caring for her community as a Clinical Herbalist. She is ecstatic to be coming full circle at Seagate, standing on the other side of the classroom in the role of presenter/educator!
