Designed for beginners and improvers, our Kitchen Bowl Making Course is aimed at potters who are both new to throwing and more experienced potters looking to make a beautiful hand made functional item.

For beginners you will learn how to throw on a wooden batt and you can scale up in size.

Looking at key elements including shape for spoons and what makes a great pouring spout you can make up to 3 small 1lb bowls, 2 medium 1.5lb or a larger 2lb bowl.

Classes are taught in small groups with a maximum of 6 students per potter.

The course is offered in 3 options:

  • Basic 2 week course - we will glaze and fire your work with a transparent glaze
  • Slip decorated 3 week course - you will return to decorate your bowls with coloured clay slip
  • Reactive glaze 3 week course - we will bisque fire your bowls and you will return to glaze them from our extensve range of Amaco and Mayco reactive glazes.

Our courses include:

  • Unlimited clay and slip for decoration.
  • Up to 2 layered combination of glazes (where the reactive glaze option is selected)
  • Expert tuition
  • Firing
  • All tools
  • Free refreshments

Each session includes 2 hours of making time in the studio. Clean up takes around 20 minutes so plan this in your timings.
