Designed for beginners and improvers, our Kitchen Bowl Making Course is aimed at potters who are both new to throwing and more experienced potters looking to make a beautiful hand made functional item.
For beginners you will learn how to throw on a wooden batt and you can scale up in size.
Looking at key elements including shape for spoons and what makes a great pouring spout you can make up to 3 small 1lb bowls, 2 medium 1.5lb or a larger 2lb bowl.
Classes are taught in small groups with a maximum of 6 students per potter.
The course is offered in 3 options:
- Basic 2 week course - we will glaze and fire your work with a transparent glaze
- Slip decorated 3 week course - you will return to decorate your bowls with coloured clay slip
- Reactive glaze 3 week course - we will bisque fire your bowls and you will return to glaze them from our extensve range of Amaco and Mayco reactive glazes.
Our courses include:
- Unlimited clay and slip for decoration.
- Up to 2 layered combination of glazes (where the reactive glaze option is selected)
- Expert tuition
- Firing
- All tools
- Free refreshments
Each session includes 2 hours of making time in the studio. Clean up takes around 20 minutes so plan this in your timings.
We offer a modern dedicated ceramics studio with a 14 wheel throwing room and separate hand building facility.
