KIPP STAR College Prep Middle School provides high-quality education to students in grades 5-8 in West Harlem. What makes us special? We're a school where every child is known and nurtured, rooted in Harlem's rich culture and history. Our elementary school shares the same building—creating a seamless K-8 pathway where siblings stay connected and students grow with us from kindergarten through 8th grade!

About us

We provide a vibrant education that blends rigorous academics with inspiring arts and enrichment. Students build strong foundations in core subjects while weaving Harlem's profound history into lessons on civil rights, the arts, and current events. Our dynamic learning community features:

• diverse "Specials" classes including dance, visual arts, theater, STEP, cyber civics, and P.E.
• unique electives like African dance and Afro-Caribbean drumming that bring pride to our school
• extensive after-school programs including robotics, photography, chess, crocheting, cheerleading, flag football, martial arts, haircare, event planning, and financial literacy
• KIPP Eats Well program promoting health and nutrition daily
• student-led Justice League where trained peer leaders use restorative practices and conflict resolution
• open-door policy welcoming families to visit classrooms, shadow students, and actively participate
• active Parent-Teacher Association fostering strong family-school partnerships
