About this Event

Join us Sunday, June 21st for a handson Kinusaiga workshop taught by local fiber artist Mary Turpin.

Kinusaiga is a traditional Japanese no-sew craft where fabric scraps are pressed into grooves on a backing to create intricate, mosaic-like images. It originated as a way to recycle old, beautiful kimono silk. Today, it is widely popular as a relaxing, eco-friendly way to make textured art.

All experience levels are welcome. The result of Kinusaiga are exceptional but learning the craft is surprisingly easy.

About the Instructor - Mary Turpin is an accomplished fiber artist and juried-member of the Potomac Fiber Arts Gallery at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria Virginia. She is also a juried-member artist at the Arches Gallery at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia.

All materials are included in the cost of the ticket. All age levels are welcome.
