About this Event
Discover the Japanese art of Kintsugi at this beginners class and create a beautiful ceramic piece to take home.
Kintsugi is an ancient art form that celebrates the Japanese philosophy of the beauty of imperfection.
It involves putting broken pieces of pottery back together with gold, embracing the cracks to produce a beautiful piece of art.
Learn about the history and philosophy of Kintsugi whilst taking you through the process of making your own kintsugi piece.
Work with hand selected broken ceramics sourced from across London or bring your own cherished pieces for assessment. Using epoxy and gold toned bronze, you'll meticulously revive these treasures, beginning with a careful repair and delicately accentuating the break lines with a radiant gold finish. At the end of the workshop, your restored masterpiece will be lovingly wrapped in recyclable packaging, ready to be taken home and admired as a testament to your newfound skills.
Gloves will be provided.
