KINTSUGI Pottery Workshop & Matcha
About this Event
Kintsugi Pottery Workshop – Modern Beginner Class
Join us for a mindful, hands-on Kintsugi-inspired workshop at 91 Hampshire St., Cambridge, Massachusetts. More than a pottery class, this is a creative experience that explores the Japanese philosophy of embracing imperfection and finding beauty in what has been broken.
Using safe, modern materials, you'll repair a ceramic piece while learning beginner-friendly Kintsugi techniques, exploring creative design ideas, and reflecting on the symbolism of resilience, healing, and transformation. No artistic experience is necessary.
You're welcome to bring a broken ceramic piece from home, or choose one of ours. We focus on completing one piece per person during class.
About Modern Kintsugi
Traditional Japanese Kintsugi repairs pottery with natural lacquer and gold over the course of several weeks. In this workshop, we use a modern approach that allows participants to complete a finished piece in approximately 90 minutes using safe contemporary materials.
This workshop is inspired by the philosophy of Kintsugi rather than traditional museum-quality restoration techniques. The emphasis is on creativity, mindfulness, and creating a meaningful keepsake you'll take home at the end of class.
About the Workshop
Carol has been practicing Kintsugi since 2015 and created this workshop to share both the art and the philosophy of Kintsugi in an approachable way. Throughout the class, you'll receive step-by-step guidance, creative inspiration, and practical techniques while enjoying a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Whether you're curious about Kintsugi, looking for a unique creative experience, or simply want to spend an afternoon making something meaningful, this workshop offers an opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and celebrate the beauty of imperfection.
