About this Event

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with seams of gold. When brokenness is repaired, the object becomes more beautiful and unique than it was before. Instead of hiding the scars, it makes a feature of them.

We are running a programme of three residentials for clergy across the year using the Kintsugi Hope resources to explore how to maintain positive mental and emotion well-being in the midst of busy lives. This is an opportunity to spend some time to improve our wellbeing as clergy, covering a range of topics that affect our sense of wellbeing. You might like to join us if this is something you struggle with, or if you want to commit some time to improving your wellbeing. This could also feed into using these resources in your own parish context.

The groups usually run over 12 weeks, but we recognise that this would be a challenge for clergy. We are therefore running this group as three 2-day residential sessions at Foxhill: anyone booking would need to commit to all of the dates, signing up to do the whole journey as a group. The residentials will be a mix of up front input, small group work and personal time for reflection.

The groups will be led by Kintsugi Hope trained group leaders from different churches within the diocese.

The dates are 9-10 March, 15-16 June, and 21-22 September 2026. You will need to be able to attend all of these sessions. There is the opportunity to stay at Foxhill, so please confirm on booking if you would like to be resident. We have a limit of 15 places, so please sign up quickly if you would like to join us.

The 12 sessions cover: Honesty, Anxiety, Depression and Stigma, Shame, Anger, Disappointment and Loss, Perfectionism, Forgiveness, Self-acceptance, Healthy Relationships, Resilience, Review and Celebration.
