Safety 101 is a beginner-friendly introduction to staying safe, prepared, and responsible both in and outside of kink. We’ll start with general safety and basic first aid, including knowing when to call emergency services, where to get properly trained in first aid/CPR, and the importance of never attempting something you don’t know how to handle.
From there, we’ll move into kink-specific safety using principles like Risk-Aware Consensual Kink (RACK), understanding your partner and your own limits, preparing for bodily fluids, maintaining clean-up supplies, and creating a basic first-aid kit that can be customized for different activities. We’ll also discuss body mechanics, safe use of space and equipment, and the importance of aftercare, not just the emotional but physical aspect (food, water, checking over injuries/wounds both accidental and deliberate, checking in on your partner).
Finally, we’ll cover what to do when something goes wrong: recognizing when an emergency requires a hospital or professional medical care, being honest with healthcare workers about what happened, understanding basic legal considerations such as mandatory reporting in Florida, and knowing when a situation is beyond your ability to safely manage yourself.
