Discover the history of Britain through its monarchsThis series of talks looks at the history of Britain through its rulers, from its abandonment by the Roman administration early in the fifth century to the union of the crowns of England and Scotland in 1603.
We will look at some well-known and interesting characters, as well as those outside England who are often overlooked but are equally important to the development of our country. Most of us know about Alfred the Great, but what about Rhodri Mawr or Cinaed mac Alpin? Why did dozens of warring small kingdoms gradually merge and eventually combine into a single state when James VI/I described himself as ‘King of Great Brittaine’?
All talks are on a Thursday at 7.30pm
£40 per person for all 6 talks (purchase before 19 March)
£7.50 per person for each talk (click the link below the talk title to purchase an individual ticket)
