Program Description:
Come learn about health equity and implicit bias and how it applies to your role as a nurse. Health equity is achieved when all people are empowered to attain their full health potential without being disadvantaged by the color of their skin, ancestry, leveol of education, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, socioeconomic status, the job they have, the neighborhood they live in or their disablity status. This workshop will give you the tools and strategies to increase your healthy equity IQ, which along with self reflection, can help reduce your bias during patient assessment, diagnosis and care.
Nurses in Action: Following the presentation, we will assemble about 400 cold/flu kits for Real Change newspaper vendors.
Additional Information:
Location: The Phinney Center complex includes a blue building that sits on the hill and a brick building that sits on the lower section. We are in the lower brick building.
Parking: Free parking. Use the lower brick building parking lot (enter on N. 67th Street). Enter the main doors and go down the stairs. Room is on your left. To use the elevator, use the ramp to the right of the main door and take the elevator down.
