World Cleanup Day 2026 – Month-Long Campaign Kickoff

World Cleanup Day began in Estonia in 15 September 2018 through the civic movement Let’s Do It World, where thousands of volunteers came together to clean up illegal waste in a single day. What started as a local initiative has since grown into a global movement involving millions of people across more than 190 countries and territories. In 2023, the United Nations officially recognised World Cleanup Day as an international observance, highlighting the importance of collective environmental action and community participation.

In Singapore, Kindred Community serves as the country representative for Let’s Do It World and World Cleanup Day Singapore. Since 2018, Kindred has been mobilising volunteers, community groups, schools, corporations, and partner organisations to take action through cleanups, environmental education, and sustainable lifestyle initiatives. Our mission is to activate everyday citizens to care for their shared spaces and contribute towards a cleaner and more sustainable Singapore.

As part of our World Cleanup Day Month-Long Campaign, we are bringing the community together to keep Singapore clean, one neighbourhood at a time.

This time, we will be cleaning from Bugis MRT Exit B towards Haji Lane, picking up litter along the way and doing our part to care for our shared spaces.

Whether you are joining us for the first time or have been cleaning with us before, everyone is welcome! Bring your friends, family and colleagues along. 🩷💛💙

What we will be doing

We will meet at Bugis MRT Exit B before heading together towards Haji Lane.

Along the route, we will:

• Pick up litter in public spaces
• Keep our streets and neighbourhood cleaner
• Learn to be more mindful of the waste around us
• Connect with other like-minded members of the community

No previous cleanup experience is needed. We will provide a short briefing before we begin and guide everyone throughout the cleanup.

Please arrive by 9.20 AM for pre-event briefing.

Water, Covered Shoes, Sunscreen, Sun Protection, Cap, Mosquito repellent, Sunglasses if needed.

Cleanup tools and trash bags will be provided.

Important notes

• This is a family-friendly and beginner-friendly event.
• This is a community volunteer activity. Please follow the instructions of our facilitators during the cleanup.
• Take care when handling litter and avoid touching sharp or hazardous objects.
• In the event of heavy rain or unsafe weather conditions, the event may be postponed or cancelled. Registered participants will be notified if there are any changes.
