Kidsburgh: Have Lunch with Us and Pitch Your Story Idea

Join the Kidsburgh editorial team for lunch at SLB Productions. We'd love to meet and hear your story ideas for the fall season.
About this Event

At this special pitch session, we invite you to join us in-person for lunch! We are excited to hear about the amazing work your organization is doing in the community and for you to have an opportunity to network with other organizations supporting families.

At Kidsburgh, we are looking for story ideas that would appeal to parents and caregivers with information to help them, inspire them or teach them something about the good things in our region for kids and families. Right now, we are planning our editorial calendar for Fall and Holiday 2026 but welcome stories for any time period. Each participant will have 2 minutes to pitch their ideas to the Kidsburgh editorial team comprised of our Executive Editor Melissa Rayworth (Kidsburgh), Kristine Sorensen (KDKA TV), and Larry Berger and Alexa Bocek (Saturday Light Brigade). This event is limited to 25 pitches (only one pitch per organization please).

Lunch/Pitch Timeline:

11:30am-12:00pm: Lunch and informal networking

12:00-1:30pm: Story Pitches (Please feel free to continue enjoying lunch as others are pitching their story and we also understand if you need to leave by a certain time.)

When pitching, here are a few things to keep in mind:

• Explain why this would be a good story for families and youth.
• What is the time frame?
• Is there a particularly timely hook?
• Who would be a good interview?
• What kind of video do you have to share if it is a TV story?

Need a specific pitch time? Just include that in the comments when you register and we'll do our best to accommodate. We try to leave an extra minute after your pitch for the editorial team to ask questions. You are also welcome to stay for as long as you like and leave when you need to go.
