Kids Woodworking Cutting Boards (Ages 11-17)
In this kid-friendly workshop, participants will design and build their very own child-sized, one-piece wooden cutting board. Along the way, they’ll learn the basics of measuring, shaping, sanding, and finishing wood — all with age-appropriate and safe tools under the close guidance of experienced instructors.
Every step of the process is designed to balance skill-building with creativity. Kids will discover how to transform a simple plank of wood into a useful, polished cutting board they can proudly use at home or give as a gift. They’ll also have opportunities to personalize their board — whether that’s adding a rounded handle, experimenting with fun shapes, or choosing the smoothness of their final finish.
All materials are thoughtfully provided, including the wood plank, sanding tools, and finishing oils. We keep the experience approachable by focusing on safe tool use and hands-on learning. Children are encouraged to explore their own ideas while learning the fundamentals of working with wood, sparking both their imagination and their confidence in the shop.
By the end of class, each participant will walk away with a finished cutting board that’s both functional and handmade by them — a keepsake to remind them of their first steps into woodworking.
