Kids Summer Art Program - Wire Sculptures
About this Event
We will be using non toxic plastic coated wire and repurposed treasures. Our medium this week is easy to bend, twist, shape and cut with regular scissors. With its vibrant colors and endless possibilities this is the perfect medium for young artists to explore their imagination and innovation. We will spend our week using our hands and minds to turn simple wire into imaginative masterpieces. Daily drop off between 8:50- 9:00am with pick up at 12:00pm. All young artists should bring a snack, water bottle and their imagination. On Friday, we welcome family and friends to see their artwork in a mini-exhibition from 11:30-12pm.
Program Schedule:
- Monday: Introductions and exploration - Getting to know each other and the wire
- Tuesday: Sculpture Selfies - Creating Wire Self Portraits
- Wednesday: Resources & Repurposing - Investigating our surroundings. What creative resources are available to us? How can we use these materials to inspire us? How can these resources shape our wire and add to our sculptures? Multi media wire sculpting.
- Thursday: Collaborative Sculpture - Working as a team. Listening and sharing each other's ideas. Working together as a creative collective on a group wire sculpture.
- Friday: Wrapping it up - Finishing up our sculptures and preparing to share our work with families and friends. We will be welcoming the young artist’s families to a mini - exhibition at 11:30 on this day to share their work. Parents are invited to join for a mini exhibition 11:30-12 pm!
