CAMP:
Ages 6-11 from 9-3pm Aftercare if requested in $17 hr.
Kids can learn age appropriate anatomy, sciences alongside herbology, they love learning if we supply opportunities!
When planning our own children summer camps and week-long programs, searching for quality programs where there was some excitement about the magic and healing power of nature was hard to find. Lots of local Boulder programs incorporate nature, but few actually teach kids meaningful herbal medicine. So I had an idea. Why not run summer camps myself!
I have nearly three decades of herbal knowledge and have been a fully trained Tibetan physician credentialed since 2009. You can read about my qualifications here: About Nashalla Camp size is purposefully limited to ten kids and ages 6-11. Designed for younger kids, as well as nearing the end of elementary age, there is an effort to have various ages to support each other’s needs.
This will be hands on fun learning and play individuated to your kids. We will spend time exploring the garden, meeting plant allies and learning about how they grow in the garden, how they want to be harvested and processed and what benefits local plants, kitchen cabinet medicine and garden herbals provide in our lives.
Does your child believe in magic, witches and wizards? Let them take on this role for the week as they learn the beauty and power that herbal medicine has to offer. This does not have to be a make believe childhood that gets left behind!
The magic and wonder of nature as healer can be a reality, through embracing ancient wisdom and your child being able to carry this precious knowledge with them for the rest of their lives.
Make your own non-toxic bug spray, herbal teas for tummy upsets, learn herbal decoctions for fevers and how we deal with minor bodily issues all with plants they can meet and make friends with. Kids can learn valuable tidbits on systems of the body.
What is the respiratory system? How does digestion work? What herbs are good for a cold and cough, what is good for a headache? What local tree has SPF 15 in its bark? We will have a little science, outside and kitchen herbal classrooms, fun in exploring nearby open space where stick forts and imagination blend with local herbs.
Kids can pack a swimsuit Tuesdays and Thursdays to include some good old fashioned running through the sprinkler fun. A good blend of fun, and structured learning will fill their days with adventure. Monday-Friday the days will be filled with fun learning they can bring home and share with family forever.
Hours are 9-3pm with aftercare play time options till 4 available.
