In this fun and beginner-friendly Halloween cookie decorating class. In this 1 hour class, created by 6B's Teaching Partners and taught by Nifty Cookies, we'll cover the basics of sugar cookies (so – yes, it’s beginner-friendly!).

Kids will learn to decorate adorable sugar cookies, including:

🎃 A smiling pumpkin candy bucket
👻 A cute little ghost
🕷️ A sweet spider in a witch hat

We’ll cover the basics of sugar cookie decorating step by step—no experience needed! Each child will leave with their own set of decorated cookies to enjoy or share.

This class is Saturday, October 11th, and starting at 10 am sharp so we can have enough time to decorate and answer questions along the way. Sign up now, we only have room for 12 people (6 pairs)!

The class will be held at Bricks & Minifigs Lego Store in Costa Mesa, CA located at333 E 17th St #13, Costa Mesa, CA 92627. Nervous about the parking situation? Don’t be! Parking is pretty easy - there are lots of spots in the parking lot.

Note - our classes no longer require masks, however, if you feel compelled to wear one please do.

Canceling Before 7 Days Out:

If you’re sick or can't make it, before the 7-day refund cutoff, you can cancel for a full refund! To request a refund through Eventbrite, follow these steps: https://www.eventbrite.com/help/en-us/articles/721549/can-i-get-a-refund/

Canceling After 7 Day Cuttoff:

For any reason before your class’s start time but after the 7-day refund policy, **ALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL** In the event you cannot attend class, all tickets are transferable to another student but tickets are nonrefundable 7 days before the event.

Please let me know if you transfer your ticket to a friend so I can update the attendee list. I reserve the right to cancel this class due to illness or low enrollment in which case you will be offered a full refund.

You Don't Show Up or Email Prior To Class:

If I do not hear from you at least an hour before the start of your class, and you do not show up for class, I will donate your cookies.

FAQ

What will I be doing in the class?

Besides having the most fun ever? We will be going over some cookie facts, decorating techniques and you will be decorating your very own set of cookies that you will take home with you that day.

Can I purchase an additional take-home kit?

Yes! Many people purchase additional class kits or an extra set of cookies to take home and re-do the classes.

Do I need to know how to bake?

Nope! No baking history required. We will have the cookies pre-made for you along with the icing already mixed and colored. Have a little decorating experience under your belt… er… apron? Come on too! I can help with questions on icing mixing and dough spread!

What will we learn in class?

You’ll learn the value of different icing consistencies – we’ll touch on tips and tricks to make your cookies look even better than they taste (and they taste good)! You’ll also learn different decorating techniques depending on the class theme such as marbling, outlining, wet-on-wet, brush embroidery, and painting. Or hey – go off script and make your own designs – it’s your class!

What do I need to bring?

Nothing but a smile! Everything will be provided for you including my (rather tasty) sugar cookies. All you need to do is join us and have fun! Messy decorator? You can bring your own apron or just wear easy-to-wash clothing. There is a reference sheet, so if you wear glasses, we'd encourage you to bring them as well. Oh – and bring your phone – I love photos!

What age is best for cookie classes?

Our classes are for almost any age! From youngsters to grandparents - come on in and have some cookie fun with us! Our in-person classes are great for any age; however, kiddos under 8 will need a parent taking the class as well (purchase 2 tickets). If you think your child may be too young to enjoy the in-person class, purchase an additional take-home kit! We'll send you the class directions, and you can teach your kids in the comfort of your own home.

What will I bring home?

By the end of the class, you will have created a set of 3 gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24 - 48 hours on their own tray. I’ll send you an email with a list of the tools we used in class so that you can recreate these cookies at home. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun!

Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?

You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. The more the merrier! We are limited to a total of 12 seats per class, so definitely sign up ASAP!

DIY / Add-On Kits

Order your sugar cookie class kit HERE and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you'll use in class, cookies, icing, a scribe, and directions so you can follow our step-by-step instructions from home! Cookie Class DIY Kits are created before your class, and you'll pick them up and take them with you after class.

How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies keep them fresh for a long time, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home. Cookies are heat sealed for freshness – but again, use it in under a week to make sure it tastes the best.

Things to Bring

Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!

• Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).
• Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry close up or far away, glasses may be a great bet.
• Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
• Bring a mask if you’d like! If you’d like to wear a mask throughout class – please do!
• Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.

About Nifty Cookies

Who doesn’t love going out and doing something fun while also eating delicious cookies!? That’s what Nifty Cookies is all about!

These classes are based in Costa Mesa/Newport Beach area and cater to the beginner cookier or people just looking to have fun learning a new skill. Whether you just want a fun date, mommy & me, a girls-or-guys-night-out, or just want to explore what cookie decorating is on your own - we have a seat for you.

Nifty Cookies works with Bricks & Minifigs to use their space for this class. This class is based on a class that was designed by 6 B's Teaching Partners.

For our classes, all you will need to bring is yourself (and an apron if you are a messy decorator), and I’ll take care of the rest. Oh – and bring eyeglasses so you can see the instruction if your eyesight is anything like mine. You will get a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty if I do say so myself) as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate them during the class. You will leave the class with your very own box of your very own newly decorated cookies!

A little about me – I’ve been decorating sugar cookies since 2019 – and I’ve not put down a scribe since (don’t know what a scribe is? I’ll teach you in class!). My favorite cookie themes to decorate are for holidays– but I can do pretty much anything if icing’s involved. I love what I do –who wouldn’t love making cookies?! It’s the sweetest job in the world!

Class Cancelation Policy: Classes may be canceled at the discretion of me, the event host. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you’ll receive a 100% refund including your Eventbrite fees.

Classes with attendance below 5 will be canceled. Don’t be sad! You can either have your ticket moved to a future class (along with my apologies), or a full refund! I’ll let you know if your class has low attendance at least 3 days before the event is canceled so that you can bring a friend (hint hint) or find other plans for that day.

Weather Policy: Sometimes Mother Nature doesn’t play well with cookie class schedules. In the event of inclement weather, I’ll contact you with options – these may differ depending on the weather event but rest assured – we’ll figure something out!

Eventbrite Fees: Your ticket price includes your ticket fees; however, Eventbrite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund less the Eventbrite fee – since I don’t get this fee back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it too!
