Let’s learn about our winter wonderland!Young naturalists of all ages and skill levels are invited to the Macon County Public Library to discover how animals handle wintertime! Though this season may seem quiet, many of our wild neighbors are busy with winter tasks. We’ll examine the difference between a woodpecker and a sapsucker, explore the sleepy world of hibernating bears, investigate squirrels’ busy snacking schedules, and more! This presentation will be accompanied by a collection of animal track plaster casts that attendees are invited to examine, touch, and ask questions about.
This event will occur from 3:30pm-4:30pm on Thursday, February 12th. For the majority of the event, Outreach Director Skye will guide beginner scientists through a slideshow expedition filled with plenty of pictures and fun facts about the creative ways our local wildlife deal with the challenges of winter. After the presentation, attendees will be invited to explore the Animal Track table, and see if they can guess which tracks belong to the animals we just learned about!
This program is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. This event is geared towards children 5-12 years old, but we welcome attendees of all ages! Email Skye ([email protected]) with any questions.
