Kids Art Club in the Park

Hi Friends!

My name is Maureen—better known as Johnny’s (or JJ’s) mom. We love doing art projects together, and I thought it would be really fun to start a small community art club for kids at our neighborhood park.

In the past, I’ve taught art to kids ages 5–11 through the Kaua‘i Academy of Creative Arts in Hawai‘i and at the San Diego Public Library. Now, I’m excited to offer something more local and informal—just for fun, creativity, and connection.

We’re starting small with groups of 5 kids (Johnny makes 6!), with the potential to grow into a larger space if there’s enough interest. For now, I’m just sending this invite out to families we already know to help get things off the ground. Feel free to share the link if you know someone who might be interested!

The club is donation-based, with a suggested range of $5–$20 per session to help cover art supplies and allow me to continue planning future classes. If you're able to contribute a little more, that will go toward better materials and a bit for my time. ❤️

That said, my true intention is to build community—so if you’re not in a position to donate right now, or just want to come and hang out, you’re still absolutely welcome. Don’t let the donation part hold you back. The more, the merrier!

Tentative Schedule:

6/29 - Create your own creature art with paint sticks, googly eyes, and pom poms.

7/6 - Air dry clay inspired by Wall-E. Make a clay boot and plant a sprout in it.

7/13 - Salt & watercolor painting - it dries to look like crystal!

7/20 - Suncatchers with tissue paper

7/27 - Clay dragons & unicorns

8/3 - Bubble art

8/10 - Fake/play food out of clay!

8/17 - TBD with kids' input!
