Keystone News Summit

The Keystone News Summit is an annual statewide gathering dedicated to strengthening local news across Pennsylvania. The 2026 Summit brings together journalists, newsroom leaders, educators, researchers, students, funders, policymakers and community partners for two days of conversation, collaboration and connection focused on the future of local journalism.

Following a successful inaugural Summit in Harrisburg, this year’s gathering will build on that momentum—expanding into new areas of exploration while deepening discussions that resonated with attendees. The Summit is designed to create space for big-picture thinking, practical insight and cross-sector collaboration.

Programming for the 2026 Keystone News Summit will center on four key areas:

• Pennsylvania’s Media Landscape: A closer look at the state’s evolving news ecosystem, including how news gaps are identified, how communities are impacted by the loss of local outlets and how research can help inform statewide solutions.
• Business Challenges & Successes: An exploration of sustainability and business models in local news, highlighting what’s working, what isn’t and why approaches vary across communities. Discussions will also consider the role of philanthropy in supporting innovative models.
• Community Engagement: A focus on how news organizations and journalists can build stronger connections with the communities they serve. Sessions will explore engagement strategies, community mapping, media literacy efforts and resident perspectives on the value of local news.
• Legislative Policies: An examination of policy proposals and collaborative efforts aimed at strengthening local news across Pennsylvania, including ongoing discussions about statewide legislative initiatives.

• Plenary sessions and facilitated discussions
• Concurrent sessions and interactive programming
• Networking opportunities with peers from across the Commonwealth
• Student-focused programming and opportunities to connect with professionals
• A collaborative, inclusive environment designed to spark ideas and partnerships

• The reservations team is available seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., to assist with booking.
• A one-night advance deposit, including tax, will be charged to your credit card at the time of booking.
• Please note that the room block cut-off date is Friday, March 13, 2026. After this date, rooms and/or the group rate may no longer be available.
