الدكتور زاهي حواس هو عالم مصريات مرموق تقلَّد منصب وزير الآثار في السابق، كما كان مسئولاً عن الحفائر بمنطقة الجيزة وسقارة، والواحات البحرية، وأيضًا في منطقة وادي الملوك بالأقصر. وقد حصل حواس على درجة الدكتوراه في عام ١٩٨٧ من جامعة بنسلفانيا بالولايات المتحدة. وقد قام بنشر العديد من المقالات العلمية والكتب.
