Join us for the Keybo Building Bridges Carl Goodbar Scholarship Charity Ride. This event honors Carl Goodbar's legacy and is a collaborative effort organized by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and the Keybo Building Bridges Foundation.All donations to the Carl Goodbar Memorial Scholarship Fund are 100% tax-deductible and directly support scholarships for the children of military veterans and law enforcement officers pursuing higher education.
In the mid-1970s, Carl Goodbar moved to Atlanta to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a police officer. He served as a peace officer for 32 years, first with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and later with the Gwinnett County Police Department. He ended his law enforcement career at the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, where he attained the rank of Major. His long-time friend, Gwinnett County Sheriff Keybo Taylor, appointed him as Retired Assistant Chief.
When asked what he valued most about his career in law enforcement, Mr. Goodbar always responded, “Working directly with the people.” As a combat veteran, he had a deep respect and passion for all veterans, current military personnel, police officers, and anyone who served in public service.
