Kevin Brewster is a highly accomplished saxophonist whose roots are steeped in the rich traditions of Gospel music. Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, he is currently a third-year Jazz Studies major at Michigan State University, where he is a member of Jazz Orchestra I and the Carr Centers Gathering Orchestra (Geri Allen) under the esteemed direction of Rodney Whitaker. Kevin is a dedicated student of his craft, studying with some of the most respected names in jazz, including Walter Blanding Jr., Bob Nixon, Diego Rivera, and Vincent Herring.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Kevin is a sought-after sideman and bandleader, performing all over Michigan. His latest project, "For the Culture," was released in 2021 and showcases his deep connection to African American culture and the soulful, rhythmic sounds of Black American Music.
