KESUMA & UMa Dance Showcase 2024/2025 Semester 1 is a performance presented by the dance department, featuring repertoires, choreographies, and classwork learned by students throughout the semester. In KESUMA, live music sets the stage for an extraordinary performance of cultural diversity. This section showcases the elegance of Malay classical dances and Malay folk dances, along with the captivating rhythms of Zapin Asyik from Singapore, where the intricate upbeats of traditional music create a dynamic synergy with the dancers' movements. The performance also presents the vibrant Cek Minah Sayang and the lively Joget Hitam Manis from Indonesia, making this a spectacular tribute to the beauty and diversity of Southeast Asian artistry. The UMa section presents six contemporary dance performances brought to life by a dynamic ensemble of students that includes undergraduates, postgraduates, and distinguished alumni. Don’t miss the opportunity to witness this artistic fusion of traditional and contemporary dance performances over two unforgettable nights!
