There are currently estimated to be 982,000 people living with dementia in the UK and this is projected to rise to 1.4 million in 2040. The scale and the need to prevent, diagnose, support, live and die well with dementia will only become greater.So, do you want to raise money for a good cause whilst having fun?!
The mini triathlon, organised by Shane Hubbard, will be held on Saturday 21st September 2024, in loving memory of his mother-in-law, Vicki Thomson, who passed away in April this year.
Details:
Leg 1: Run/walk/cycle - Porthtowan Beach to Portreath Beach (4 miles)
Leg 2: Swim/paddleboard/Kayak - Portreath Beach back to Porthtowan Beach (3.3 miles approx.)
Leg 3: Walk/run/crawl up to the Victory Inn, Porthtowan, to rehydrate & grab some food! (1.2 miles)
Date:
Saturday 21st September, with an 11am start time.
Grab your bikes and get your wetsuits! All levels of ability welcome and if you cannot participate in all 3 legs, you are welcome to join in at any point - the aim is to have fun and raise money for a great cause that impacts so many of us.
Rain or shine, this event will be going ahead, however, if the sea conditions are deemed unsafe on the day, the swim will be replaced with a run/hike back to Porthtowan, with perhaps something a little random thrown in to make it interesting!
Fancy dress will also be optional...
