About this Event

The Chairman and Committee of the Kenya Society UK cordially request the pleasure of your company at the Society's 34th Annual General Meeting and Luncheon on Wednesday, 3 July 2024, at the Kenya-founded The Rembrandt, a Sarova Hotel, located at 11 Thurloe Place, Knightsbridge, London, SW7 2RS.

We are honoured to annnounce that H.E. Amb. Edwin Afande will be our esteemed Guest of Honour. We are also delighted to announce that Lord Valentine William Cecil, Chairman of Eastern Africa Association, will deliver a keynote address.

Please note that the AGM is open to Kenya Society Members only. The Annual Lunch which starts from 12.15pm is open to all friends of Kenya in the UK.

We look forward to your gracious presence at this important event.

ORDER OF EVENTS

10:45am - 11:15am: Annual General Meeting Registration

11:15am - 12:15pm: Annual General Meeting (Elizabeth Suite) - Kenya Society Members only

ANNUAL LUNCH

12:15pm - 12:55pm: Drinks Reception and Lunch Registration (Foyer)

12:55pm: Guests ushered to lunch venue

1:00pm - 3:00pm: Luncheon (King Suite)

3:00pm - 4:30pm: Drinks and Networking (King Suite)

From 4:30pm onwards, the hotel bar and lounge will be open should members want to continue networking.


AGM ARRANGEMENTS

Please note that the Honorary Secretary has previously dispatched all AGM notices and supporting documents to members via internal communications for their attention. However, we wish to inform our esteemed members that the upcoming Agenda and previous Minutes will be sent two weeks before the AGM.

We take this opportunity to remind our members that only those with up-to-date membership subscriptions will be allowed to attend the AGM. We therefore kindly request that you to check and verify your status on the membership database hosted on the Society's website via the following link: https://kenyasociety.org/join-today/.

In case your membership has lapsed and you wish to continue your association with us, please make the necessary payment before 26 June 2024, which is when the AGM registration desk will close. For those whose membership is up to date, we thank you for your loyalty and continued support to the Society.

LUNCH MENU


<h4>Starters</h4>
  • Roasted Pepper and Tomato Soup
  • Goats cheese and caramelised shallot tart and sweet chilli jam
  • Caesar salad with steamed chilli and croutons


<h4>Mains</h4>
  • Marinated baked cod with a lemon and dill sauce
  • Roast breast of chicken supreme with asparagus and brandy cream sauce
  • Oriental fried crispy tofu served with broccoli, plain rice and soya sauce (V, GF. V)


<h4>Dessert</h4>
  • Fresh fruit salad ( V, GF, VG)
  • Chocolate fudge cake served with salted caramel ice cream
  • Raspberry Roulade with ice cream

Vegan and Other Dietary Requirements: Please contact the Secretariat should you have any dietary requirements and the chef will advise menu based on seasonal availability.


Note: Please note that ½ bottle of house red (Granfort Merlot, France) and white wine (Granfort Sauvignon Blanc, France), orange juice, sparkling and still water, tea and coffee are included in the price.

The cash bar in the King Suite will continue to operate throughout the lunch.

Price: £60 per person

Note: Tickets for the Annual Lunch can be purchased either via Eventbrite or directly to the Kenya Society via bank transfer. The Society has subsidised the ticket price by £17 to provide better value at £60 per ticket. This subsidy aims to make the event more affordable for members.

Please be advised that those who choose to purchase their tickets via Eventbrite will incur a service fee of £5.71. It is important to note that this service fee is not set or controlled by the Kenya Society, but rather by Eventbrite. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

If you prefer to purchase your ticket via bank transfer directly to the Kenya Society, select the "Annual Lunch via Bank Transfer" ticket option and immediately deposit the correct ticket amount of £60 per person to the following bank account.
