This workshop is designed to be beginner-friendly. Acrylic on canvas.

Ken Nichols, the instructor, focuses on making the experience fun and accessible for everyone, regardless of their prior painting experience. So, even if you've never picked up a paintbrush before, you're more than welcome to join and explore your creative side. It's all about learning, experimenting, and enjoying the process. Ken will provide guidance and support to help you find your unique artistic voice.

A typical workshop session with Ken Nichols is a blend of structured learning and creative exploration.

Introduction (10+ minutes): Ken will kickstart the session by welcoming everyone and introducing himself. He'll briefly go over the workshop's objectives and what you can expect to achieve by the end of it. This is also a great time to introduce yourself and connect with other participants.

Demonstration (15+ minutes): Ken will demonstrate the painting technique he uses in the paintings that will surround you in the studio. He will break it down into simple, easy-to-follow steps. So, don't worry if you're a beginner.

Guided Painting (approx. 90 min.): After the demonstration, it's time to pick up your brushes and start painting! Ken will guide you through the process, offering tips and tricks for getting out of your own way so you can play! Once you're comfortable with the technique, Ken will encourage you to explore on your own. He'll be there to provide one-on-one guidance and support as needed. This is when you can start to find your unique artistic voice.

Wrap-up, Share time and Q&A : Towards the end of the session (and possibly into the reception time!). Ken will wrap up the day's learning. He'll open the floor for questions or shares about the day’s activities. This is a great time to share your artwork and how this process felt! 

Expect a mix of learning by demonstration, creative exploration, and a whole lot of fun! Ken's workshops are all about experimenting, and enjoying the process. So, come with an open mind and a willingness to explore, and you're sure to have a fantastic time.

Note: The timings mentioned in the workshop description are approximate and can vary depending on the workshop and Ken's teaching style. But you can expect the workshop to follow a similar structure.

You will need to bring:

• 16x20 BLACK canvas
• ½” brush
• Fine point/round brush
• Selection of acrylic paints(any colors/at least primaries!)
• Acrylic black
• Acrylic white

Studio will supply: extra brushes(we have LOTS!), Easels, tables, seats, coffee, tea, water and a well lit space.
