Anchoring the group is Oregon-based drummer Ken Mastrogiovanni, a rising force on his scene known for bringing a distinctive, modern sensibility to the kit. His musical foundation was shaped early by an eclectic mix of influences — his older brother's J-pop, ska, and electronic bands alongside the jazz and avant-garde sounds his father favored at home — a combination that continues to inform his genre-crossing voice today.
Since picking up drum set at age eleven, Ken has developed into an in-demand sideman, performing alongside a impressive roster of artists including Jaleel Shaw, George Colligan, Dick Oatts, Jim Rotondi, Roxy Coss, Clay Jenkins, Bruce Williams, Geoffrey Keezer, John Raymond, Remy Le Boeuf, Yoav Eshed, Alden Hellmuth, and the Redshift Trio. He holds an M.M. in Jazz Studies from the University of Oregon, where he now serves as drum set instructor, in addition to running his own private teaching studio.
Beyond the acoustic jazz world, Ken also produces under the name "kenthemaestro," crafting genre-defying beats in collaboration with MCs and other creative artists — a testament to the versatility and boundary-pushing spirit he brings to every performance.
