Ken Chenault, Author of "Equal to the Task: A Life Forged Between America's Promise and Its Truth"

Few American lives have unfolded at the intersection of our nation's defining social, political, and economic transformations quite like Ken Chenault's.
Born in 1951, when segregation was still inscribed in the laws of the land, Chenault came of age during the Civil Rights Movement and rose to become one of the most influential business leaders of his generation, serving for nearly two decades as Chairman and CEO of American Express. However, Equal to the Task: A Life Forged Between America's Promise and Its Truth is far more than the story of a celebrated executive – it is a sweeping American memoir that explores leadership, race, opportunity, service, and character through the life of a man who has spent decades at the center of the forces that have shaped modern America.
