Kelly Hunt
Rooted in tradition but never confined by it, Hunt’s music moves fluidly between past and present, balancing Appalachian and folk influences with a distinctly modern perspective. Rolling Stone Country noted her “lilting cadence of a folksinger born somewhere far away, sometime long ago,” while PopMatters praised her ability to “embrace modernity with unadulterated effervescence,” naming Even the Sparrow among its 20 Best Folk Albums of 2019.
Expanding her sound further, her work with producer Dirk Powell on Ozark Symphony has been recognized for capturing a wide-ranging American musical landscape, with Grateful Web writing that the album “truly captures the spirit of America.”
On stage, Hunt delivers an intimate, compelling performance shaped by precise musicianship, rich tone, and a nuanced command of both voice and instrument. As Greil Marcus wrote in Rolling Stone, “From the first instant you know you’re in a place where there is no sense of time, where anything can happen and no one will ever have to admit to a thing.”
