Yes I tell people all the time, "We do four concerts a year." Of course I know full well if a handful of artists would ask for a date and it fit into the schedule; I would jump at that chance. Kelly Hunt is on that short list. Within the last two years I've seen her five times, two with duo gigs with Kelley Smith (Big River Theatre & the Trempealeau Hotel), two with duo gigs with Sara Morgan (Harmony Bar & Grill in Madison); and once at Turkey River Cabin Concert songwriter songswap (who all host Kelley Smith that day).
Kelly messaged me that the pair of Kelly's will have new albums in fall and are touring. She was looking for recommendations, and I said "We'll DO IT!" I can tell you my friends Kris and Christine were wow'd at these two at the hotel, and that's in a somewhat noisy bar. Just wait for inside our listening room.
Kelley Smith has also played the Great River Folk Fest and some other house concerts in the area; plus my friend Carol told me before I saw her the first time; "Dave, you'll love Kelley's music." She was right.
Both K's play guitar and they will do both solo songs and duos with both guitar and banjos. Kelley Smith has such a unique picking style reminiscent of a blues player; while Kelly Hunt brings her Southern roots to her vocals and songs. They are sure to mix in a few traditional songs too. When they get close to our area, I never hesitate driving over an hour and a half. Now I get to sit back and go wow, they are in the house.
