Please join Jak's World and renowned Salford based poet 'J' Ahmed and the 'Poetry Peers' for our 'Keeping Kind in Mind' Poetry evening, celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Day.
We, at Jak's World, believe in the power of communities to come together to tackle the growing problem of suicide amongst our loved ones and neighbours.
An act of kindness, a smile, generous giving of our time, heart and spirit, helping someone feel heard - the small things, they all count.
So, this year we would like to invite you to join us for a night of poetry about the many random acts of kindness we have experienced in our lives, and too those we have offered. Some of the poetry will be exploring the impact of these smaller acts of kindness to help us understand how, even these smallest acts of kindness could contribute to saving lives.
Here is the address of our venue, a lovely local theatre in Salford :
Salford Arts theatre
Kemsing Walk,
Off Tunbridge Sq,
Liverpool St.,
Salford
M5 4BS
Doors will open at 5.30pm for guests to meet and chat in the bar area. The event will start in the theatre at 6.00pm. There will be a 15minute intermission at 6.50pm and we aim to have read and heard the last poem of the night by 8.00pm
Attendance tickets are free, but must be booked in advance so that the venue can ensure health and safety of the attendees based on total number.
For those of you who might wish to share a poem on the night, please email 'J' at ;
[email protected]
Also, there will be two, free online poetry workshops (on zoom) in the run up to the event, for anyone who wishes to join us to write some poetry on the theme of Random acts of kindness to potentially share on the night. You need not be an experienced writer to attend.
These workshops will be held;
Tuesday 27th January. 6.30pm till 8.30pm
Sunday 1st February. 2.00pm till 4.00pm
Please, again contact 'J' on the email above if you wish to attend one of the workshops.
