Come celebrate the release of this powerful new children’s book inspired by the true story of Kimberly Burwell, a young girl who marched alongside her community during the historic PCB protests in Warren County, NC, helping ignite the environmental justice movement.
Written by activist Dollie Burwell (Kim’s mother) and children’s author Cathy Sheafor, the story is lovingly told through the voice of Kimberly’s little sister, Mia Burwell.
This special event will include:
📚 Book readings
✍🏽 Author signings
💜 Community fellowship
🌱 Conversations about environmental justice, youth activism, and legacy
📸 Photo opportunities and more
Liberation Station, North Carolina’s first Black-owned children’s bookstore, is the perfect place to honor Kimberly’s memory and inspire a new generation of young readers and changemakers.
Kimberly loved children deeply, and this book continues her spirit by encouraging young people to use their voices to stand up for their communities and the world around them.
Books will be available for purchase and pre-orders are encouraged.
